Post-Pisces Full Moon 2017

Many things that have been blurring my vision of late became clear the past few weeks and days… like how easy it is to get in our own way, to let our own concepts about how things should be, our hopes about how things will be, our identification with who we think we are and what we want and need, to become the self-imposed limitations that bind us to suffering.

The Buddhists teach it so well, the art of non-attachment ~ to accept things as they are, to wait and see, to find a way to shift our perspective to one of equanimity, wherein we see the value of what is, rather than dwelling upon all the things we don’t have.

Life is so busy and often monotonous in its relentless repetition of routine requirements, the demands of daily life (food, sleep, order, function) can feel stifling, showing no mercy.

So much of the time I find myself caught up in tasks, one to the next, managing small children, wrangling them in and out of the car, diplomatically adjudicating endless disputes, manipulating ways to make things happen with minimum fuss, while struggling to get all The Things done each day.

This experience has drained me lately, it seemed that my faith had abandoned me, I felt forsaken by the Universe for weeks. Now there are glimmers of light and I recognise that my own ego’s ideas about What I Need are meaningless. In the interests of sanity+satisfaction my expectations must be released rather than tenaciously clung to as a part of my very being.

Just because I don’t understand, or can’t see what is really happening, it doesn’t mean that nothing is happening, or that it is wrong, or that I’ve made a mistake, or that I’m being punished…

Like Pythagoras’ own theorem:

“the square of the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides”

which is a very prosaic way of saying that it is not what we see but what we do not see that is the interesting bit.

The mystery of life swirls around us. Many (politicians, powers that be, consensus majority et al) choose to perceive things in a way that supports their own (old-paradigm) materialistic views. Their passé perspective that life is a series of transactions measured with ones and zeros, with value estimated in dollars and cents…? I think, despite their self-assured demeanours and loud mouths, they are more lost than any one of us who is able to humbly bow in reverence, recognising the futility in attempts to control, admitting we have no idea what is happening. Those who see the strength and wisdom in surrender, AKA The Meek, may indeed inherit the earth.

For now, the gods must laugh at our antics, lest they cry at what we seem hell-bent upon bringing to bear… despite, nay because of the gifts we’ve had bestowed upon us ~ consciousness & free will

this very breath at this very moment

Our apparent collective ineptitude provides all the fuel for humility we could ever need. The search for the Holy Grail, the meaning of life, eludes us despite all technological advances, CCTV at every junction, 24 news channels…

Religion disappoints us, preaching rubbish rules and regs to which we must subscribe in order that we get a chance to sit atop a sun-drenched cloud by Jesus’ side someday, or brainwashing the beautifully supple young minds with poisonous seeds of hatred and violence. They want us infidels punished, in the hopes they might get to cavort with virgins for eternity on The Other Side.

Truly, we must concede the whole mess is a mystery

Franciscan Friar Richard Rohr writes “mystery isn’t something you cannot understand – it is something that you can understand endlessly!”

We never get it completely. There is an ever deepening spiral of evolution taking place within us (and so without). The more we participate with this, surrendering as required and engaging when called to do so, the more inspired enthralled and awed we become… we recognise that life is magic and we are fools to fall into any other mindset.

We have a part to play in the unfoldment of this grand cosmic plan. We must only have the courage to abide.

Cancer New Moon 2017

Here in Australia it is the darkest time of the year ~ Dark Moon at the Winter Solstice AKA Sun into Cancer ~ time to follow the lead of the natural world, to turn within. At such a loony Lunar moment, leading up to the Cancer New Moon (10.31am AWST 24th June 2017), I thought I’d muse upon the Moon broadly…

The Moon is the ancient symbol of the Triple Goddess ~ maiden mother crone ~ and a reminder to honour our own needs as they wax and wane in a rhythm of their own. The Dark Moon time calls us to rest release repose in preparation for the New Moon: a time of new beginnings setting intention first steps… As the Moon waxes to Fullness we come to culmination, and we find things illuminated as the light increases, before the waning phase invites our return once more to centre as the energy turns inward once more.

Reverence for inevitable dark phases of life (sickness loss struggle grief depression) is surely more helpful and healthful than outright denial and avoidance? We have spent so long resisting the dark, the old crone face of the Goddess, the death decay destruction that is truly a necessary element of life… we medicate and distract and ignore and repress…

I often wonder if it is our collective rejection of the dark that has led us into the conundrum of this contemporary life #trumped ? If we each worked towards an acceptance and integration of the more complex parts of our psyches, could things turn around for humankind? I believe this to be the case, and hope that enough people will undertake this liberating work.

Because we don’t need everybody to change, not even the majority, just enough of us must be dedicated to the path of consciousness and we can turn the tides in favour of harmony healing wholeness

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has” Margaret Mead

Cancer is the Moon-ruled cardinal water sign and so represents our feeling and emotional natures. Cancer’s soft centre is protected by a tough outer shell which can hinder more than help as defences are hair triggered and overreactive, offending where a little yield would’ve done more good. Our emotional body can be primitive, carrying so many hurts of olde that ought to have been released long ago. Yet somehow, the tenacity of the Crab keeps it wedged between rocks in a harbour of grievances, pincers at the ready, prepared to take on any foe dumb enough to believe they could compete with Cancer’s sideways manoeuvres. Pity the fools.

Though perhaps Cancer herself is most foolish of all, guarding herself against imaginary enemies and holding on to angst of yore, allowing no love in or out.

We all have a Moon. And we all have Cancer within our birth chart. These receptive and reflective tendencies leave us at the mercy of the world around us. Our response is not logical, we are not even aware of it most of the time, but we feel it in our waters, and to the extent that we are sensitive to this, we act, or react. This strength is not to be underestimated, but it is so often repressed that we become more susceptible to the less conscious prickly manifestations of Crab energy.

With maturity (a balancing with Capricorn energies) Cancer learns to come out of her shell, to be less defensive and more vulnerable, to find joy in ties that bind but do not cling grasp need control, to retreat periodically like her Lunar ruler, disappearing in order to nurture her own needs.

We give thanks for the blessing of Winter: season to cherish the heart. To make warmth and quiet for the heart. To make soups and broth for the heart. To cook for the heart and read for the heart. To curl up softly and nestle with the heart. To sleep deeply and gently at one with the heart. To dream with the heart. To spend time with the heart. A long, long time of peace with the heart. We give thanks for the blessing of Winter: season to cherish the heart. Amen.♥ Michael Leunig

Gemini New Moon 2017

Early Friday morning (3.46am AWST 26th May 2017) heralds the New Moon in Gemini and our benevolent cosmos provides yet more opportunities for expanding our human potential…

And opening our minds

While Gemini says “I think” and seeks to gather information, we are wise to recognise that limitations are inherent in the dualistic modus operandi we currently collectively subscribe to. Perhaps this New Moon delivers a message of divine import ~ are we being called to realise our potential for a more integrated world view?

As we recognise that truth is not an either/or situation

but a both/and invitation to access all-encompassing whole truth.

This week there is an impasse, the dual nature of our either/or thinking leaves us without an out. We are bound between two incompatible realities, gagged by irreconcilable differences, and co-existence seems impossible. We feel hopeless, helpless. How can we escape this world of pain wherein nothing and no one seems willing or able to shift…?

The answer comes via objectivity, allowing enough space for the tension of the opposites to be as they are, releasing frustration and attachment, being open to the emergence of a mysterious reconciliatory creative relationship between the forces at play. Rather than to-ing and fro-ing evermore and finding ourselves disappointed compromised unfulfilled we might instead make room for a third force

Armenian mystic G.I. Gurdjieff describes the Law of Three ~ affirming denying reconciling ~ of which the inspiring Reverend Dr Cynthia Bourgeault writes “no resistance, no new arising

Or perhaps the necessity of opposition in evolution.

One way to access such a spacious place of grace is by becoming humble enough to question our own tendencies and patterns. Is it our own incapacity for flexibility and openness that prohibits our forward motion? Do our own limiting answers sabotage our journey on the path to what’s possible? Are we inadvertently repeating ourselves because we are not accepting authority for our lives?

Truly our potential is beyond our wildest imaginings

“But nothing can be attained in sleep” said G.I. Gurdjieff

While we do appear to be awake, fully-functioning autonomous grown-ups tending to our roles and responsibilities in the straight world, the truth is that until we awaken we are very much at the mercy of our unconscious inertia (even, or perhaps especially, when we behave and look as though we are actively doggedly pursuing “success”). Once we have one of those so-called peak experiences (often a brush with mortality, loss or trauma) and find ourselves suddenly irreparably conscious, life begins to unfold in miraculous ways that prompt us towards individuation, and life as we know it will never be the same again.

Gemini is associated with The Fool archetype, who signifies a kind of blind faith, optimism and willingness to set forth on a journey despite there being so many unanswered questions…

With Mercury now in Taurus we are reminded of the value of patience, to trust that life will present us with all that we need. Maintaining a stubborn belief that we already have all the answers does not foster the emergence of imagination. A little honest self-appraisal and reflective humility quickly reveals the illusory nature of such delusions of grandeur. Sometimes Spartan stillness is the only way to be granted access to the unapparent and uncomfortable avenue of answers.

The questions around our human existence demand that we find new solutions. To paraphrase Albert Einstein, a problem cannot be solved by the same consciousness that created it… thus we cannot hope to elucidate a path forward, personally or collectively, without expanding our consciousness, opening our minds, surrendering to our not-knowingness and inviting space/grace that allows possibilities to emerge ~ solutions.

Gemini is mutable and curious, so at this New Moon, let the information flow freely direct from the source, let the vulnerability of our imperfections give rise to acceptance compassion forgiveness, let us deepen our comprehension of that which we value, and let us open our whole selves to new possibilities.

Who knows what lies ahead in this mad world?!

Taurus New Moon 2017

Wednesday evening’s Taurus New Moon represents our monthly opportunity to begin anew ~ having been armed with fresh insights or even inspiration that emerged during the six week Venus retrograde. These now become conscious as retrograde Mercury translates the messages from the Underworld and beyond into fodder for left brain integration…

“I have” says Taurus ~ a phrase to which we can all relate in our endless quest for security via accrual of more more more

yet, paradoxically, it is the relinquishment of our need for security that allows us to experience it

For things are not as stable as they might appear ~ security, like control, is an illusion

Symptomatic of the human condition, we tend to avoid any sense of insecurity by defaulting to reactive patterns that protect us from vulnerability.

But as we learn to abide in insecurity we open ourselves to new possibilities. We find ourselves grounded in the present, here and now, and able to respond creatively, with love, and not bound by fear (manifesting as anxiety anger rage depression etc).

If we could just allow ourselves the chance to pause

The security sought by Taurus can truly only be found within this liminal space ~ redemptive moments between moments that we might seize in order to find peace and escape the insanity of reaction and over-reaction.

The retrograde motion of Mercury, until the 4th of May, always encourages review reconsideration reflection

REcognition that there might be another way ~ some nuance that adds a new dimension to our comprehension of life’s meaning ~ slowing down to revise is not pointless

Walking on the beach looking for cuttlefish for the kids, I turn to head back the way I’ve come to give the girls the chalky treasures, I don’t expect to find many, if any, more to contribute to their collection yet I find at least half a dozen large ones I’d have thought it was impossible to overlook…

this simple analogy, I believe, is echoed in life’s multifaceted complexity. We often think we have all the facts, only to discover through the magical influence of time and space, that there are other previously imperceptible dimensions at play…

and delays have indeed favoured us, in spite of our resistance to them. Are we wise enough to learn to accept, even welcome, the slowing down of life against our will? Can we recognise that this intelligent and benevolent cosmos seeks to support and guide us?

The urge to push seems to occur for many of us during retrograde phases, especially with Mercury now in the feisty first sign of the zodiac Aries the Ram (cardinal fire BOOM!) but this is antithetical to what is generally required of such times. More often than not, though they can be difficult to endure, delays favour us. We find that when we surrender to the natural yin-ness and honour the call from within, we are rewarded by new insights and deeper understanding

Vibe a la The Bull and slow down

Virgo Full Moon 2017

Sunday night’s (12th March, 10.55pm AWST) Full Moon in Virgo is a special one! Amid all the challenging energy playing out between Pluto, Uranus, Jupiter, Saturn and the Sun and Moon, Mercury and Chiron invite us to go beyond our assumed limitations…

As the Moon’s energy builds, and we perhaps become more aware of our woundedness, there is the potential for us to default to old ways of thinking and being. We find ourselves in crisis, inwardly lamenting our flaws, vulnerabilities, perceived weaknesses, and believing that we are destined to succumb to our past…

Loss and trauma must be processed authentically ~ felt, honoured, experienced, mourned ~  over time and sometimes periodically. As we evolve and mature, we might reflect on our wounds from different points of view and benefit from new insights, deepening our healing. No one has the right to tell another how to grieve, or that we ought to “get over it” “move on” “toughen up” “lighten up” et al, we must each honour the process of grief in ways that feel personally meaningful.

While Chiron can represent parts of our psyche that defy logical comprehension, and wounds that remain despite our best efforts to “cure” them, we need not feel these aspects of ourselves are necessarily limiting. Mercury is supporting us to transcend the idea that we are bound to old trauma. We are not asked to forget, but to let go of our attachment to who we have been.

Wounds sustained over lifetimes might remain with our soul, colouring our perceptions, causing us to respond in certain ways to certain stimuli, much of which occurs unconsciously ~ we are unaware of our bias. This Full Moon allows us to see more clearly the ways in which this effects us, and encourages us to accept ourselves, warts and all, without allowing ourselves to remain stuck in old thought forms.

We are not who we were. Our old wounds can contribute meaningfully to our individuation, but when we allow our conscious minds to replay our old stories ad infinitum, we are doomed to abide by an old paradigm of thought that keeps us reliving the past.

Though our ego perceives the shedding/letting go of these stories as a sacrifice ~ a threat to its identification ~ it is time to transcend all that! Recognise that denial, rejection, numbing or projection are simply the ego’s attempts to maintain status quo, seeking control and power ~ illusory though these are.

This weekend the cosmos empowers us to release the old, see things anew, welcome the insights that come…

feel the tenderness within (ouch!) and courageously stay with it.

Sagrada Familia ~ emerging from the Barcelona earth

We might even channel our feelings

into conscious expression of our individuation

~ more fully ourselves

than we have ever been before

Pisces New Moon Eclipse

Tonight’s (26th February 11pm (AWST)) Pisces New Moon eclipse is both

a time to honour from whence we have come

and to look forward, to that which we are now becoming

Pisces ~ symbolised by two fishes swimming in opposite directions ~ shows how we each may contribute to the whole, each of us a point of consciousness that, in order to make our meaningful contribution, must discover and express our unique individuality…

To be or not to be?

Once we are immersed in the modern-day collective conundrum, are we destined to become lost? Or, is it possible to contribute to the whole but too remain true to our selves?

These questions have plagued me this past fortnight, as I’ve made my return to nursing, now my entire life is accounted for… work, family, children, partner, puppy, domestic duties… and there’s nought left for “me”. Its not as if this was unexpected: I knew that my return to paid employment would demand much and that my less-productive pursuits (astrology, meditation, yoga, sleep) would suffer, and too that this is The Norm ~ status quo for the vast majority of us.

No time to nourish that seed of creative individuality, no time to go within, no time to practice music, no time to rest, no time to daydream, no time to read, no time to blog. Such a sad state of affairs this is.

Or is it?

Sacrifice is to make sacred. In attempting to shift my perspective from one of mourning and self-pity to one of learning and service I “ask not what my employer can do for me, but what I can do for my employer patients colleagues children partner puppy insert various other beneficiaries”… and to embrace this lot as an opportunity to evolve. To find the positives in what could otherwise be experienced as a depleting defeating depressing interminable situation.

“When ego comes, wisdom leaves” Prem Rawat

Rather than wallowing in misery, we might recognise the value freedom release in surrendering to how things really are.

In the acceptance of what is, we do our best with each moment, and we benefit as we shift our perspective from dogged pursuit of what I want, to the flow of what I can do to help others, and life feels better. And within such good-vibe generosity there are seeds sown for a beautiful future.

As the New Moon eclipse promises a fresh beginning, it is flavoured by endings, so we give consideration to the cyclic nature of it all, and how this particular new start looks back as well as forward, in as well as out, and recognises how we can give and receive…

Perhaps the gifts offered are not what we expect, but all the more valuable for the effort required to discover the hidden rewards. As we learn to find the goodness inherent in everything (transformation of lead to gold), we ensure that our suffering is not meaningless, and I think perhaps this is the most wonderful gift of all.

Aquarius New Moon

Saturday morning delivers our New Moon in Aquarius ~ sign of the genius revolutionary rebel exile that exists within us all. The Sun entered the fixed air sign of Aquarius last Friday morning and is joined now by the Moon, allowing us to gaze forward ~ to the future ~ intentionally taking the steps required to bring our vision into reality.

Aquarius and its modern-day planetary ruler Uranus, correlate with individuation and self-actualisation, wherein we know who we are but we must find courage to become it.

Becoming is the key. Who are we becoming?

In each moment of each day we are provided with an opportunity to act consciously and in alignment with what we want to be ~ the destined Self ~ or we can default to autopilot and the unconscious tendencies of yore.

Sometimes the road to expanding consciousness is lonely long winding ~ treacherous and steep ~ with sheer drops into cavernous gorges to our right and crumbling cliff faces threatening landslide to our left. There are no signs no maps no indication that this is The Way

Apart from some tiny inkling within that urges us on despite the apparent recklessness and the loud voice that hollers abuse from within “go home you fool!”

Is this tiny inkling the spark of individuating Self, that knows this is the only way? Even though everyone else might whisper and point and ridicule and condemn (and perhaps secretly admire but never admit it aloud) we just know we must go on.

Such knowing can get us into trouble of course. It is important to cultivate insight, frequently checking in with our motivations and evolving consciousness to ensure that we are on course and that the path we are treading is still aligned with our own self-actualisation. When we hear our voice speaking in tones that signal arrogance and pride and stubbornness we must be alert to our own egoic missteps.

But when the knowing is sort of quiet, self-assured, intent, humble, cautious but confident, perhaps then we might trust it. As we continue on, step by step, working diligently towards the goals and future we dream of, we might have faith that indeed this is The Way.

Golden Valley Tree Park, Balingup

Asteroid Hygieia’s trine to Uranus supports our healing journey towards wholeness, especially encouraging restorative connection with nature now. Contemplation of our place in the Circle of Life fosters a sense of reverence as we marvel at the majesty of It All whilst also knowing that each of us is made of the same stuff

~ we ~ no less than the stars and the Moon

In balance, Venus square Saturn and separating from Chiron emphasises self-love and acceptance of our ubiquitous human frailty. In the wake of what might’ve shaken us to our core we find strength in our recognition that, despite our many differences, we are fundamentally all the same ~ one humankind ~ Aquarius…

This year promises so much, but we each must do our bit. Despite our misgivings, anxieties, doubts and worries, Mars’ imminent ingress into Aries might inspire us all to act bravely, in accordance with our own truth…

an’ it harm none, do what ye will ∞

Capricorn New Moon

Monte Carlo on Grand Prix day

The final New Moon for 2016 (Thursday 2.54pm AWST) occurs in Capricorn ~ cardinal earth sign of the seagoat ~ a mythical powerhouse capable of traversing vast oceans and scaling high mountain peaks! With a formidable work ethic, patience, method and discipline, anything is possible for Capricorn!

Thus we must choose wisely our course of action, and consider the motivations behind our goals. Though I posed this question in my last post, I feel as though it is distinctly Capricornian and worth repeating…

To what and whom do we owe our allegiance?

Capricorn can be duty-bound to a fault, leaving no room for inspiration spontaneity or feeling. The Saturnian nature of the sign represents not only commitment and order, but rigidity and thus fragility.

Things that don’t bend, break.

When we are doggedly attached to our goals, ideals, principles, concepts we allow no compromise, no willingness to adapt, no space for receptivity. A self-defeating basis from which may come much heartache. So often, that which we pursue is an illusion. We work so hard to climb corporate ladders, give the impression that we are free and easy, mingling in desirable social circles, appearing as if we are fulfilled as we post carefully selected images of our #blessed lives. None of this is real.

How much of our lives are spent keeping up appearances? How often do we do things that we do not want to do? Are we dreading many of the things that we are bound to comply with? What is it that compels us to maintain an unhealthy level of busy-ness? When examined closely, is it our own anxiety that we aim to quell as we control-freak our lives and micro-manage others’?

We are each responsible for our own lives, and often for the lives of others as well. In reality, people do depend upon us. Duty calls ~ responsibilities beckon. Deadlines must be met. Bills paid. Children fed, clothed, nurtured. Time and space are limitations imposed upon our human form and we can only do our best to work within our particular parameters. Given this, what can we do to nourish the seed within?

In what small ways can we honour ourselves and the gift that is life?

Personal responsibility is an underrated virtue. When we accept that every single moment in our lives has the potential to teach us something, and the more challenging life is, the more potential we have to learn and grow, personal responsibility becomes something of a super-power. Rather than giving our power away by blaming projecting scapegoating we find superior strength in finding a way to use our struggles to our own advantage. We evolve. We prosper.

Saturn and the Capricorn archetype teach us that we do what we can. We take the steps, put our best foot forward, make an effort and … the rest is in the lap of the gods. When we meet our responsibilities we feel a sense of self-respect that cannot be feigned. This feeling of intact integrity is invaluable ~ beyond status wealth worldly success notoriety fame fortune.

As Capricorn urges us on into the new beginnings of a new year wherein anything is possible, let us invite that which helps us feel increasingly resilient strong whole, not dwelling upon any sense that things are futile frustrating foisted upon us.

As 2016 comes to its end, and we turn our attention to the future, the ongoing reflective influence of Mercury’s retrograde phase encourages the adjustment of our aims and actions. This New Moon’s intention ~ to contribute in whatever ways we can manage to our own individuation and the building of our legacy, in alignment with our flexible and evolving MO that resonates within, and with a view to release that which is no longer supportive of our growth, to co-create our own wonderful destiny.

This is what I wish for you as I bid adieu for 2016 ♥

Mercury retrograde fusion

Tonight (Monday the 19th December) heralds the beginning of Mercury’s three week retrograde trip from mid-Capricorn to the final degrees of Sagittarius.

Always, Mercury retrograde provides a chance to reflect. Far from the (useful but limited) mundane interpretation whereby we are warned to expect delays and postpone contract confirmation etcetera; retrogrades are so beneficial when we work with them. They present opportunities for the emergence of hidden material, bubbling to the surface of consciousness, allowing for deepened understanding of multifaceted variables at play.

Mercury retrograde has taught me that delays, though often frustrating and incomprehensible, most often favour us. It is usually only in retrospect that we are able to see just how significant the right timing can be in the development and discovery of our paths forward. We can push push push for things to be the way we imagine that we want them to no avail. Then, seemingly effortlessly, life flows easily in magical ways, and we arrive at our destin(Y)ation.

The conservative nature of Capricorn pressed upon by the long Plutonian passage (2008 until 2024) marks a phase of metamorphosis…

Collectively we can observe this in the sometimes dramatic changes occurring in financial markets worldwide;

~ as well as apparent social change ~ global demands for the powers that be bureaucracy gov corporations power moguls to display authenticity truth transparency integrity are palpable among our youth and the young at heart alike;

~ and shifts within our collective psyche towards ownership of psychological baggage that, unchecked, remains burdensome and weighty, are clear as our shadows dance across screens tuned to news just in.

When Mercury comes around we might make use of this so-called personal planet ~ the planet of the mind ~ to bring consciousness to the shifts we ourselves experience thanks to Pluto’s challenging demolition~renovation operation.

Mercury’s approach to Pluto will be thwarted by the three week retrograde cycle that will see us into the new year ~ 2017. It won’t be until the end of January that Mercury will finally catch up to Pluto and usher in our deepened psychological understanding of where we are at as 2017 begins. Who have we become? And where do we we intend to go from here? Where are our Sagittarian arrows of meaning and intention aimed?

Sunset on Wednesday (AWST) heralds the Solstice (Sun into Capricorn) ~ we might consciously surrender to the Summer, prioritising rest and repose for a time, and remaining open to incoming new information that helps us to refine our vision.

Capricorn wants to build ~ leaving tangible legacy of our existence ~ but we can inadvertently spend our lives taking direction from an ill-deserved doyen of un-truth. Working-class heroes fooled into accepting the only way to live is to sell our souls jostling for pole position within the rat race. Always working harder longer faster in hot pursuit of dangling carrots moveable feast goal-posts that never truly deliver the satisfaction fulfilment contentment peace that we hope they will.

“You load sixteen tons, what do you get?
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don’t you call me ’cause I can’t go
I owe my soul to the company store”                          Merle Travis

To whom~what do we owe our allegiance? Capricorn’s dutiful inclinations can lead us to believe we must outsource our inner oracle, as though we do not ourselves have direct access to the same information as sages prophets gurus messiahs. But we do.

We have within us an author~ity

“to thine own self be true”

As we persistently ignore our inner wisdom we are sending the message that we prefer someone (whomsoever we delegate our power ~ boss parents partner children peers…) to chaperone us through life. It is not until we step up to accept responsibility, honouring our own truth, that our authentic voice vision becomes clear.

As we work, expending effort, let it be in alignment with our own author ~ the presence within that knows our personal myth~story and collaborates with the cosmos to illuminate it for us (synchronicities symbols images messages dreams ~ clues abound!) so that we might bring it into the world. As a gift. And a tangible legacy of our existence 🙂

Gemini Full Moon

Wednesday the 14th of December (8.07am AWST) delivers the final Full Moon of 2016 at 22° Gemini~Sagittarius. Life is rich with meaning with a healthy Sagittarius expression, and healthy Gemini supports this with highly developed skills of perception and data collection.

Gemini represents the dual nature of things ~ black & white dark & light bad & good ~ upon closer inspection, as we learn grow evolve, we find that the lines separating us n them blur. We start to discover that things are not always clearly black and white, but more often grey. But it is helpful at times to discriminate between the polarities and it would be foolish and naive to insist that there is no such thing as right and wrong, right? Although if we consider it for long enough… 😉

Gemini says “I think”

The human mind is active by nature, always seeking something to do, paradoxically easily distracted with a tendency to become fixated upon thought patterns that are not necessarily healthy. This is why Buddhists encourage the use of techniques to cultivate mindfulness. When left to its own devices the mind will wander, aimlessly and seemingly harmlessly, free associating its way through days weeks years, allowing for the reinforcement of unhelpful neurocircuits and thus karma

Learning to harness the power of the mind is so beneficial because

with our thoughts we make the world

Life is largely experienced between our ears ~ a matter of perception above all else. Becoming aware of the subject of our incessant rumination concentration deliberation speculation cogitation contemplation meditation is worthwhile. The energy focussed hereupon will manifest, though not necessarily in the ways we expect or desire.

Energy flows where attention goes

Chiron’s influence upon this lunation is meaningful too ~ consider how we allow our tales of woe and wounding to inhibit our evolvement. The stories we repeat ad nauseam aloud or on a silent loop as we go about our business… how we’ve been wronged and by whom… the things we wish we’d said/would say if we had the chance/courage… imaginary encounters confrontations meet cutes… it goes on

and on.

So yes, we’re wounded, one and all. Learning to accept ourselves in all of our imperfection liberates us from the tyrannical illusion of faultlessness. Truly it is our flaws that keep us real, and grounded, and connected to one another, and grateful. In humility we are always learning, finding compassion and forgiveness as we recognise our own hidden shadows in the perceived shortcomings of others.

As Mercury slows down in preparation for a retrograde trip all the way back to late Sagi, we can allow the brightness of this Mercury-ruled Full Moon to shed light on those well worn cerebral pathways and begin to discern how these help and hinder our forward motion. Are we giving our power away by lingering too long on old thought forms? Are we living our truth and aligned with our vision? On track to a future that excites and energises us?

With practice we will undoubtedly improve, so we do well to examine our thought practices ~ habits tendencies patterns routines ~ since our best indicator of our future is our present… does it feel like a gift?

“Wise enough to carry the scars without any blame there’s no one to blame its easy to forget what you’ve learned waiting for the thrill to return feeling your desire burn and drawn to the flame… I don’t pretend to know what you want but i offer love”

Neil Finn
